"Lures of the Month" from ABQ Sportfishing and Bob "Lucky" Lechel:
ABQ's pick is the Berkley 4" PowerGrub - Milky Salt and Pepper Popular for all species of fish, especially in colder water. A flexible bait for a variety of rigging options. Like Bob, we prefer a 1/4 ball head for our structure fishing.
Lucky's choice: Yamamoto Single Tail Grub - White or Chartreuse It’s hard to beat a 3 or 4” grub in chartreuse or white on ¼ to 3/8 oz jig head for the walleye, crappie, and bass this time of year. Look for deepwater near points anywhere from 20-40ft of water on the main lake. It helps to use your electronics to find them, but it’s a great way to brush up on your video gaming/fishing at the same time.

    2008

  • Championship September 13-14, 2008 Navajo Lake, NM.
  • Points Tournament #5 June 7, 2008 Navajo Lake, NM. Tougher conditions made for a lot of cookie cutter bags...but if you could find a kicker fish, you had it made.
  • Points Tournament #4 April 19, 2008 Navajo Lake, NM. The fish were scattered but if you made the right decisions at the right time...you were rewarded. Chad and Cole showed everyone what the potential for Navajo is...with two fish that weighed in over 14 pounds.
  • Points Tournament #3 March 8, 2008 Morgan Lake (Four Corners Area Power Plant). Even warmer, but someone moved all of our fish...there were still a lot of big bags brought in...and one of the Four Corners Junior Bassmasters to put on a "seminar" on how to do it. Way to go Seth!
  • Points Tournament #2 February 9, 2008 Morgan Lake (Four Corners Area Power Plant). Much better than the first tourney, but still a bit chilly.
  • Points Tournament #1 January 19, 2008 Morgan Lake (Four Corners Area Power Plant). Friday pre-fishing -14 and Saturday tourney day was -7 at launch. You could not see the boat next to you and your eyes would stick together because the steam would freeze shut. It was a blast!
